About Nomad Yolo

My Digital Nomad Story

I couldn’t do the 9 – 5. I tried. I got depressed. I failed. This was me in Washington, D.C. in 2019. So I sold all my stuff, booked a trip to Thailand, and I’ve been in Southeast Asia ever since.

Hi, I’m Nick. Living abroad has been my thing since I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Pacific Islands after college, and I love the digital nomad lifestyle. The nomad type I am currently is “Homebase + 1” meaning that I’m looking to establish a home here in Southeast Asia in addition to being from the U.S.

Starting my digital nomad journey in November 2019, I unknowingly landed straight into the jaws of the COVID-19 pandemic; however, it was a great time to be a nomad. I was able to establish myself as one of Upwork’s top freelancers and maintain a personal client base from amazing contacts in my network.

My goal with starting Nomad Yolo is to inspire others to take the leap into digital nomadship. This life isn’t meant for everyone, but I want to help those who want to learn more to get into it.
